XM Account Opening Guide: Steps, Account Choice and Rebate Setup

XM Account Opening Guide: Steps, Account Choice and Rebate Setup

What to Prepare Before You Register

Opening an XM account is a low-friction process: the minimum deposit is $5 and a phone that can receive a verification email is enough to start. Have two documents ready — a government-issued ID for identity verification and a proof of address issued within the last three months (a utility bill or bank statement). Most complete applications are approved within minutes; blurry photos and expired proofs of address are the two most common reasons for delays.

Choosing Between the Three Account Types

XM offers Micro, Standard and Ultra-Low accounts. All three are commission-free and work on MT4 and MT5; the differences are contract size and spread structure:

AccountMin. depositSpreadsContract sizeBest for
Micro$5From 1.01,000 units/lotBeginners and small balances
Standard$5From 1.0100,000 units/lotMost traders
Ultra-Low$5Lower; see live spreads on the official site100,000 units/lotSpread-sensitive traders

If you are unsure, start with Standard: its contract size matches the convention used by mainstream market software, so position sizing stays intuitive. Pick Micro when the budget is tight or you want to validate a strategy with the smallest possible positions. A full comparison with rebate differences is available in our XM account types comparison.

Opening the Account in Four Steps

  1. Enter the registration page via our XM link, fill in your email and basic details, and choose the account type and account currency (USD is recommended — the widest channel coverage and the least conversion friction).
  2. Log in to the member area, verify your email, then upload your ID and proof of address. Identity checks usually clear within minutes.
  3. Fund the account from $5. Bank cards, e-wallets and local payment options follow the official list; most e-wallet deposits arrive instantly.
  4. Download MT4 or MT5 and log in — contract specifications, spreads and swap rates are visible on every instrument's quote.

Don't Forget to Link Your Rebate

Accounts opened via our link keep the exact official conditions: same spreads, same leverage, same bonus eligibility. On top of that, every closed lot earns a cash rebate under the XM rebate schedule — $9 per forex lot and $26 per gold lot on Standard and Micro, $4 per forex lot and $9 per gold lot on Ultra-Low. The previous day's rebate is credited automatically to the MyWallet in your XM member area at around 12:00 noon each day. Instrument-level details and settlement rules are covered in the XM rebate guide.

FAQ

How much do I need to open an XM account?

All three account types start at a $5 minimum deposit. Fund what your planned position sizes actually require — there is no need to front-load.

How long does verification take?

With clear documents, approval is usually automatic within minutes. Blurry IDs or expired proofs of address go to manual review; re-upload sharper copies and it moves again.

I already have an XM account — can I still get rebates?

Existing accounts need their introducing-broker attribution moved to us before rebates can be tracked. The process and caveats are described in the XM transfer guide.

Can I start with Micro and switch to Standard later?

Yes. You can request an account-type change in the member area or simply open an additional account and run both; rebates follow each account's own schedule.
